A turn on Eureka Street can change your life
What do we do?
We provide mentoring and support to undergraduate students from Minority Serving Institutions and other underserved schools (including a small number of international students) with their applications to graduate programs in physics and chemistry (broadly defined) in the US.
How do we do it?
An experienced and accomplished academic reviews each part of the application and provides feedback. The student translates a relevant scientific article from technical to everyday language which is published online and used to demonstrate his or her commitment, interest, and intellectual maturity. Our organization works with our professional network to personally reach the head of the group the student is interested in and make him or her aware of the application and the translated scientific article. Our organization pays for the application fee.
Why do we do it?
Because in every school there are talented and ambitious undergraduates with the creativity and drive to succeed in top programs, but many don't have access to serious mentoring, opportunities to show their abilities, and professional connections. These factors compound over time and at the end these students are at a serious disadvantage. We want to ameliorate this situation.
